Stable House, Hendra
Stable House is a Brisbane home renovation and extension that transformed an existing single-storey house into a contemporary two-storey family residence. The project demonstrates how thoughtful architectural design can unlock the potential of an existing home while retaining its established character.
The existing house was retained and raised, allowing additional living space to be created and the home to be substantially reconfigured. A new upper level was introduced as part of the extension, providing the additional space required for contemporary family living.
The architectural design focused on improving the home’s layout, functionality and connection between indoor and outdoor living areas. Generous living and entertaining spaces were incorporated, together with improved access to natural light and outlook.
Rather than treating the extension as a separate addition, the new and existing elements were considered as one architectural composition. A Hamptons-inspired character brings the residence together through carefully considered proportions, materials and detailing.
